About me

How I work

As a Counselling Psychologist, I am able to provide a number of approaches including Psychodyamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Densentisiation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Intergretive Psychological Therapy. This enables me to approach your difficulties in a creative and flexable way whilst being informed by the most up to date evidence in effective approaches to working with specific issues.


Qualifications and Experience

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I first studied Psychology at Middlesex University in 1996 and was awarded a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I went on to complete my Post Graduate (PGdip) in the Practice of Counselling Psychology and Masters (MSc) in Counselling Psychology at Roehampton University in 2007.  I later went on to complete my Doctorate (PsychD) in Counselling Psychology at City University in 2014.

Since this time, I have continued to maintain Continued Professional Development including further studies and training is Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) with the Anna Freud Centre, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Part 1-4 with EMDR Works and Clinical Supervision Training with the British Psychological Society (Division of Counselling Psychology) and Solomon’s for Clinical Psychologists.

I have worked within the Mental Health field for over 20 years and worked within the NHS and private practice, for the past 13 Years (10 years post qualification). Over the past 10 years I have worked my way up to a Principle Counselling Psychologist for a Secondary Care Psychological Therapy Service specialising in adult mental health. Prior to this post, I worked at as Highly Specialist Alcohol Therapist within a Community Alcohol Service. Over this time, I have worked with clients struggling with a range of complex and long term psychological difficulties.


Specialist Interest

I have a specialist interest in Personality Disorders.  I completed my Doctorate which included a substantial research dissertation in the area of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.  I have used this knowledge to support clients as well as provide supervision to professionals working with this client group.
